Hi, I'm Sarah Gioia.

ABOUT MEIn May 2022, I graduated with my PhD in Biobehavioral Health (BBH) from Penn State University, where I studied under the guidance of Dr. Joshua Rosenberger.
I now serve as Research Dissemination Specialist for OCHIN, a nonprofit leader in equitable health care innovation and a trusted solutions partner to a growing national provider network. RESEARCH INTERESTSI study perceived discrimination in healthcare affecting sexual minority individuals and people of color. My research explores how discrimination can best be measured quantitatively and I explore the influences that may encourage better patient-provider communication. I also study how these discriminatory experiences shape health behaviors including physical/mental health outcomes and treatment utilization.
